The parks and streets of La Crosse, Wisconsin provided a perfect backdrop for this wedding between two of my college friends. It was wonderful to watch all of Chris and Susan’s friends and family expressing their happiness and relief that these two finally married after countless years of dating. Thank you, Chris and Susan. So what have I been up to this spring? Hanging out in Italy! I fell in love with the food, culture, architecture, and the people. I’m back home now and super excited about all of the weddings coming up this summer. Here are some of my favorite images from an incredible country.

stacy and mark's destination wedding in mexico

As if my job wasn’t great enough, Stacy and Mark brought me to the white sandy beaches of Tulum, Mexico to photograph their destination wedding. Their wedding day was romantic and intimate. Close friends and family celebrated under a canopy of palm trees just a bouquet’s throw from the ocean. Other highlights included mariachis, the beautiful warm weather, and even a long walk on the beach at sunset. If I close my eyes I can still see the waves gently lapping on the shore.

Thank you, Stacy and Mark. I’m so lucky to have been part of your celebration.

kate and nick's minneapolis wedding

When I first met with Kate and Nick and they explained their vision for their wedding, I immediately “got it.” Vintage glamour, formal but comfortable, thoughtful and meaningful details everywhere. I couldn’t wait to photograph their day. Not to mention that Kate and Nick are warm, generous, and all-around great people.

Kate and Nick’s wedding celebration was thoughtfully planned with amazing details like mismatching but coordinating vintage china that Kate purchased piece by piece. Antique keys accompanied the escort cards, and Kate and Nick were chauffeured in a 1939 Cadillac LaSalle. Kate and Nick worked with the planning guru Joan Nilsen of Ambiente.

In addition to my photography, which I hope you love, Kate and Nick hired the fantastic videography talents of Capture Studios. Take a few minutes to check out the film they created here.

Kate and Nick were married at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, and the reception was held at the stunning Semple Mansion in Minneapolis.

john and katy's minnesota fall wedding portraits

When John asked me to be the best man in his wedding I was both honored and conflicted. Short of constructing some kind of bow-tie camera, it was going to be difficult for me to photograph the wedding. I was able to spend 45 minutes with them for some pre-ceremony portraits before the capable Brandon Sweet took over photography duties.

I wanted to take advantage of the mood of the last days of a Minnesota fall. The sun was nice and low in the sky, setting the scene for some romantic images with loads of lens flare. I’m really happy with what we were able to create. What a great day!

I photographed these two back in September when Minnesota wasn’t buried under many feet of snow. Let’s pretend we’re back in the days of 80 degrees and sunny.

I love the colors and feeling in this one. Pure happiness.

We all had a great time laughing during this session.

Hills make for great composition.

Serious and sweet. They do it all well.

The soft tall grass sets the mood nicely.

These two wanted to show off their basketball skills at the end of the session. Angela is doing her best Michael Jordan impression.

This just says “love.”
